14 cards, oh my!

That's how many Christmas cards I've made already. I haven't counted exactly, but I think that's about a third of what I need to make. Yesterday I was at a friend's house and she let me raid her stamp collection so I have some new (to me) Christmas stamps to use. New stamps at no cost, makes for a happy stamper! :)

For my Grandma

I just spent the last two hours working on this card for my grandma. (Okay, so she's really my husband's grandma, but I refer to her as my own.) It was hard. In something like this, there's no words that can comfort, no gestures that can take the pain away. But I can't sit here and do nothing. It's a tiny jesture that contains all my heart.

Colored Christmas Challenge

I managed to sneak one card in this evening. It took me a while to get this challenge done, I feel like the card is a little empty on the bottom. Maybe once I get my nestabilities in the mail I'll be able to find the right thing to put there.

The inspiration for the card came when I saw this post at Make a Card Monday. Then I recalled my very first Christmas as a married woman and out of my parents house. Target had a line of purple and blue that I loved and bought those as my first Christmas tree decorations. So that's why I chose blue and purple. :)

Christmas is... challenge.

Anyhow, if anyone is curious, you can see all the cards I've made so far today here in my gallery at the Splitcoaststampers site. But, before I did any of those cards, I got warmed up with the Christmas is challenge.

No doubt about it, Christmas is all about the birth of my Savior. A man who knew full well what he would have to endure, but decided to come anyway.

The other challenge listed is going to take me a bit longer, I really need some inspiration!

Blingy Thingy

Today's card challenge calls for bling. This was a bit of a challenge at first, because I just don't have much "bling" in my stash. You could say that bling aint my thing. So I had to spend some extra time coming over that hurdle, and I hope I did well enough to count!

The wide ribbon has a sparkly edge, I stamped snowflakes all over the mat page, and added some glitter to the "Let it Snow" greeting. I stamped the snowman, cut him out, and filled him up with a thin layer of glitter as well. That actually worked well, it gives him a grainy texture which invokes the feeling of snow even more. On the bottom right corner sits two buttons that I gave a healthy layer of glitter too trying to mimic actual bling. lol

Now I just hope tomorrow's two challenges don't have to do with glitter! I think I might be glittered out for a little while.

Tropical Christmas

I'm on a roll thanks to the Christmas Cards All Year 'Round blog! When I saw their challenge today, my previous Pastor came to mind almost imediately. He was always wearing Hawiian shirts, even in the dead of winter. He'd always comment about how he never thought God would bring him to frozen Kansas, it certainly wasn't his own idea! Now that he's returned to his native Southern California to plant another church he's constantly reminding us that the whether there is positively perfect. When his wife gets homesick for Kansas, he reminds her of the ice storm and below freezing temps. So I just had to do a Hawiian shirt for this card.

It's hard to see, but the text that is overly glittery in this pic because of the flash says "Wishing you a Tropical Christmas!" The little shirt is a gift card holder. I tied ribbon around the 'neck' and tied it like a tie. Not that he wore one often, but the "Cool Yule" was perfect! That ribbon had been sitting around since last January! About time it got used. Thankfully his wife doesn't visit this blog (that I know of) so it'll be a surprise when Christmas comes around. :)

It's time I become the domestic princess. I've gotten dishes done, and the starts of dinner are in the slow cooker thankfully, but laundry is screaming to get done!

Woo-hoo!

Woo-hoo! I finally got my first Christmas card done! Thanks to this blog. I'm going to do my best to keep up with it, the inspiration is nice to have!

I wish the design on the lighter paper showed more, but I think it's typical that the finer details never show up in these pics. The snow flake and "Christmas" are glittery as well.

Yup, it's Wednesday already

Wednesday... yup Wednesday. This week is flying past me already! So much work and so little time. I've been yearning to get downstairs and make a card these last few days. If I'm going to accomplish sending homemade Christmas cards this year I have to get to work! The last few days I've been doing a little piece here and a little piece there, on a new card. I finished it today, and it's simple, but I like it. Unfortunately it is not a Christmas card!

Now I have to figure out how to make an envelope for a 6x6 card!

I did get a few minutes to play with my new pooh bear cartridge, FINALLY! Luckily I had some scraps of the right colors and I was able to make 3 cute little Pooh Bears.

As you can see in the pics, the detail isn't so crisp on the smaller pooh bears. I'm looking forward to playing with that cartridge some more. Unfortunately, it just won't be today.
